A Bourdon tube pressure gauge is the standard mechanical gauge for clean liquids and gases in moderate to high pressure ranges. It is not ideal for very low pressure, viscous slurry, crystallizing media or aggressive corrosion unless a diaphragm seal or special wetted material is specified.
A pressure gauge can be mounted horizontally only when the movement, dial orientation and connection position are suitable for that installation. Many bottom-entry gauges are designed for vertical dial reading; horizontal pipe mounting may need a back-entry gauge, panel mount or siphon/snubber arrangement.
